Presto Pro EverSharp Electric Knife Sharpener
This worked where all the other sharpeners failed
My son gave me a high quality chef's knife a year ago. I kept the knife sharp using a sharpening steel. I had never used a high quality knife before and the difference was remarkable. It was a real improvement over all the knives I had ever used. I really enjoyed using it.
Then after about 4 months the knife suddenly got dull. No matter what I did I could not get it back to the way it was when it was new! I used 6 different sharpening gadgets including an oiled wet-stone a powered work-shop knife sharpener two traditional kitchen knife sharpeners and even a special diamond coated gadget from our local gourmet shop. They all got the knife sharp as sharp as all my other knives but it was no longer dramatically better than the cheap knives.
Based on the 5 star reviews I decided to give the Presto 08800 Pro EverSharp Electric Knife Sharpener a try. After carefully following the instructions the knife was restored to it's like-new scary sharpness on the first sharpening. It has stayed sharp for 2 weeks with much use.
We have since sharpened several other knives with similar high quality results.
Don't do what I did instead buy this sharpener first! It is a great tool!
My advice is to carefully read the instructions and follow them. It worked for me.More detail ...
Chromium Crusher 2.25" Premium Quality Tobacco Herb Grinder (non-aluminum grinder).
Better than the SharpStone
I've been using a 2.5" SharpStone grinder and this beats it hands down with a much nicer feel 24 grinding "nubs" to SharpStone's 12 and also no tight lid leaving aluminum residue around the outer edges after grinding.
Another review gave this only 3 stars saying that it has a weak magnet however it works just fine: turn the grinder upside-down and the lid doesn't fall off even with a bit of shaking. What more does one need?
Also someone noted that this model's kief screen is too fine to be effective. While it does look that way I'm finding that it is equal in "production" to the SharpStone.
One complaint that I have with both products is that they require too many turns to tighten the parts together; surely these could have been machined so that a single twist would do the trick eliminating the need for a fine touch in order to get the pieces together without stripping the threads.More detail ...

Cuisinart GR-1 Griddler Panini and Sandwich Press
J'adore ma petit panini grill! Or something like that.
I feel like I am back on the streets of Paris every time I plug in my beautiful Cuisinart Panini and Sandwich Press. This press makes the best grilled cheese sandwich you ever ate I guarantee it. I love how you can stick a whole hoagie roll or chunk of french bread loaf with sandwich makings inside into it and squish it into a hot & yummy hunk of cheese-oozong goodness. Or you can use regular bread and make toasty club sandwiches or grilled cheese.
This guy hangs out in the cupboard and is easy to pull out just plug in and wait for the green light to come on. You can have a quick french dip dinner ready in 5 minutes that everyone will love- also perfect for grilled cheese and tomato soup night- or just want to make some garlic bread to go with your spaghetti without heating up the whole oven? I LOVE my panini press.
It is really easy to clean- although I haven't tried grilling meats or anything beyond sandwiches and bread. Gooey cheese comes off easily and the whole thing wipes down quickly with a damp washcloth.
Elvis would have died over the peanut butter and banana sandwiches we make in this baby! The frying pan's got nothin' on our Panini Press.

Nesco FD-75PR 700-Watt Food Dehydrator
A great little machine
I had been researching dehydrators for months and finally decided on this one. I am happy I did. I have dried veggies fruits made jerky and fruit leathers so far. It is easy to use has great recipes and works well. It is nice to be able to give the kids snacks that are not full of sugars and things no one can pronounce. I only wish it had a timer. I will probably use a regular timer and plug it into that.
Pros: *fan not in bottom of unit - allows for more uniform drying
*temperature control
*size - fits nicely on a kitchen counter
*availability of accessories
*ease of use
Cons: *no timer
*no on/off switch - you have to unplug the unit to turn it offMore detail ...

Cuisinart Supreme Grind Automatic Burr Mill (CCM-16PC1)
Almost as good as I expected
First off the grind you get from a burr grinder is superior to a blade hands down. This grinder makes a superbly uniform grind and the fineness/coarseness is easily adjustable. For the price this is an excellent burr grinder. Highly recommend it for your average coffee drinker. If you are grinding things finely grinding spices or flavored coffees or grinding lots of coffee read on for important details.
I was a little disappointed with the plastic grind hopper. Burr grinders I have used in the past were glass and while I didn't think plastic would be a big deal extremely fine grinds tend to 'stick' due to static electricity.
When doing longer grinds (for larger pots of coffee etc) the motor really starts to sound strained. I'm worried that with heavy use over a few months I might have issues with it. If I do I'll update this review.
*most* of the grinder is very easy to clean... however inside the base there are a couple of pieces out of reach and really fine grinds tend to collect just inside the chute that dumps the grinds into the hopper. If you grind flavored coffees (or in my case fresh seed spices) and need to clean it you might be a little frustrated.More detail ...
